Though the monument was built nearly 4500 years ago, most of it was hidden beneath tons of sand until the mid 1800s. It wasn't fully excavated until the 1930s.

Wow you can see what time had done to this structure. In the movies it always seems to look much newer . Must have be a marvel to see in it hay day.
