The Karadag nature reserve

Not far from Feodosia there is an amazing reserve, with which many legends are connected. Kara-Dag ("Black Mountain") is a volcanic massif, the last eruption of which occurred 150 million years ago. The Karadag Nature Reserve itself, which covers an area of more than 2,870 hectares, was founded in 1979. And part of its area falls on the Black Sea.

The wonderful landscapes of Kara-Dag attracted tourists in ancient times. To the unique nature was not destroyed, it was decided to establish a natural reserve. Walking around this zone is allowed only accompanied by employees strictly on the "ecological path".

Since the foundation of the fauna and flora of the Karadag nature reserve have been restored to a large extent. 125 species of animals living on the slopes of the mountain range, 79 species of plants are listed in the Red Book.
