Urbexing around an Old Factory

in photography •  5 years ago

I made yet another visit to my favourite urbex, the Permanite Asphalt Factory which is just across from my brother's place. There's supposed to be security on it but you never see them. The good part about getting older is that security think you are law abiding citizens and you can usually blag your way out of trouble! 😃

The factory manufactured asphalt products such as roofing sheets. Everyone and their dog walks around it or flies drones. Usually, it's either raining or snowing when I've gone up so it was nice to see the lovely blue sky this morning.

Every once in a while, the graffiti artists will paint new art on the walls. Photographer's dream. It's always different everytime you go up.

The factory will be knocked down to make way for housing at some point.
There's not a lot left as arsonists have got to it. I'm still hoping they use the two cylinders as a focal point. That would be pretty cool.

PS My brother's drone is still stuck up the 50ft tree!

Hahaha! I have also found that the older I get the more invisible I am. It can come in very handy. That's an amazing old factory. It's too bad they're going to knock it down. Too bad about the drone. Maybe he should get another drone and knock the first one out of the tree?

We did think of doing that but I'm not buying it this time. It was a Xmas present and I might as well have thrown money down the drain (or up the tree).

Yes, getting older does have it's advantages!

Julie, 'urbexing' is a new word for me, and google cant help me to understand... what is it about?
ps. a nice post! I love exploring places like that, too.
nb. why do not use tags #graffiti, #creativecoin, #palnet, #art?.. do you know about the steempeak.com, or photostreem.com -- it let you using up to 10 tags...

Hi 'urbex' is short for urban exploring. People also use the term 'derp' which is short for a derelict place. It really is basically exploring old abandoned buildings and taking photos.

I've only just realised I can use more tags but I never really know what to use. Thanks for the heads up.

If you look on Youtube (or perhaps Dtube) there are a lot of videos on exploring. There might be some in your area.

wow! that is nice to know something google isnt aware of :)))
see, personally I am fond of knowing world thru the language side, this one is a pretty nice brick in the wall, thank you.

derp / urbex -- the question is, how much is it wide spread (maybe it isnt a solid part of the language, yet?.. just an argo used by 1k community on youtube?)

at least it could be very helpful to use as keywords, when you search stuff like this in the www

Urbexing definitely comes up in google but perhaps derp isn't as common. I think most hobbies will have its own language going on.

I do love the hobby but you have to be careful as the floorboards aren't always safe!

A shame I missed his, it's paid out now. I would love to see more Urbex related content on Steemit. It's sadly absent for the moment. Are you in Yorkshire somewhere? I'm over the 'border' in Lancs.

You could have used #creativecoin and some othe tribe tags for this. I saw another comment about the subject on your post.

Hi I'm in Derbyshire. I will be doing more urbexing and I'm still learning about tags. I will do better next time! 😊

Your post was fine, but I would add a little more story and photographs to it. The thing is with #newsteem, you can be seen quite easily if the curators feel you are making some effort.

Besides, you and me.. there's barely anybody doing posts about this subject. Hope you can do another one soon, and feel free to tag me.

When SMT's arrive, this is a topic I will be wanting to expand on and create a community for. It is niche, but there many people on Facebook and the Urbex sites that post their content for no rewards.

Thanks for your advice. I just love old buildings. I think it stems back from my childhood playing around anything that's derelict lol.
