Shipped Back to The City Center of Lucerne

Our photo session was cut short and we all had to run for shade when the heavens decided to have its tantrums and started sobbing. Our last ride for that combi - adventure was just approaching and we're all still very hyper while waiting for it on the dock.

b.jpg

Everyone's a bit glad the heavens held its tears till the train ride was over. Truth is, the air was chilly and gray clouds were building up when we were approaching the last station. At first we had no idea how on earth we're going to cross that very busy highway below.

c.jpg

We found out, the moment we got there that we just have to go through an underpass which vomited all of us - a walk away to the dock.

c1.jpg
I found this and I was hoping to get the whole scene in front of me in a horizontal frame but the heavens already couldn't contain it any longer so I had to haste and all of the horizon on my shots were tilted.

c2.jpg

There was nothing special around the dock aside from the ships parked in front of us and what looked like mangroves around us. Only the mountain displays behind that ship we're waiting for is photogenic imho.

c3.jpg

The ship finally docked and we all got boxed, ribboned, carried and tossed into it by the captain and his crew. Okay, just kidding! One of the crew and the captain welcomed us aboard. Actually, when we were on the ticket booth we were asked whether we want to do the whole combi and my husband hesitated but YOLO is a great push just in case you need it. Am glad we did cause I was curious what the Lake would look like in the water when we were in Briens. Remember, we went ship watching that day. Well, I prefer checking it out on land although it does have a different face when I was on the boat.

b1.jpg

There's not much to see here aside from water, water, water, road, traffic, mountain tops and more water vehicles aside from the fact that the water on this one doesn't look very inviting for a swim.

c4a.jpg

I went to the loo and got thirsty so I took a look at what I could snack on board and my jaw dropped while my eyes almost popped out at the price of a beer that seemed to have gone ten times the normal price of it in NL. I reached for my water bottle and took out the organic energy bar I have in my bag. I'm sure glad I brought food and water with me. The others decided it won't be long till we get to the city and held their cravings. My husband joined me and that family of Indians outside.

Soon, we were closing in to the city, this is all I could see of where we came from. I decided to go out and eat my energy bar there since the heavens finally got pacified. It was chilly but bearable. Well, I wanted frames of the view from behind those glass windows.

c4.jpg

Another Asian woman approached me asking whether I wasn't cold since she's wearing a sweater and still crossing her arms for additional warmth while am only on my tee so I told her it is more of a summer feel where I came from. It was more than 21 degree Celcius but I get her, the wind and those tiny flying kisses the water would throw your skin would really make you feel cold.

c5.jpg

The conversation was so engaging, I forgot that I wanted to take mementos on frames for this trip and before we knew it, we're almost docking.

c6.jpg

One last look at our last ride for this adventure and those proud mountains on the other side and we squeezed in a huge crowd waiting for a Dutch guy's concert which filled the road to the bus station. I can't count the times I was shoved by people rushing to the metro and their buses and am sure glad my karate reflex didn't get activated when one old guy pushed me quite hard with his wet umbrella. His next victim who was a lady walking in front of me gave him a big mouth which caused a domino effect of whines against him. I guess everyone was rushing to wherever they're going cause it was already dinner time.

c7a.jpg

We headed to lane A which was way on the other side of the road and went pass a landmark I wanted to check out cause it down poured out of the blue. While we were waiting for bus 1, a guy was asking everyone around to spare him a euro or two. I was surprised how well dressed he was. He actually looked neat and his clothes don't look like a normal beggar. He must have a story to tell. Our bus finally arrived and we sat at the very back. A guy with a headset on was singing loudly and finally made me realize how tired I was. Nobody dares tell him he was making more of a noise than singing and this is normalcy in the EU so when he got off, everyone giggled out of relief.

Soon, it was our turn to get off and we still have to walk back to the parking across the ticket booth to get to our car. My husband asked; " Are you ready for another hike? " Well, we had to climb those stairs and follow that stroll path to finally get there. I was looking forward for a Korean meal so I didn't care nor really realize how tired my legs were after all those days of hiking till we got to our hotel.

Oh well, I guess this is how packages feel after going through several rides but hey, it's not so bad being shipped back to the city center yeah and as we say it in Dutch this bucket list of my husband is : "Geslaagd!"

This content's 100% mine . Except for the pic of me that my husband took, I took some of the pics with my D Eye and some with my smartphones.

Mountains in a light fog, boring rain leaves traces on the water. Beautifully. ): These boat trips always seem exciting. Well, at least for me. I wouldn't mind a ride on a rainy day. This summer I also made several similar voyages on the water. The main bonus in such trips is the beautiful scenery. I do not quite understand how long this trip takes: it is close or far, but the distance to the shore does not look close.

it was indeed exciting
am not sure anymore.. I think 30 - 45 mins?
I don't remember cause all I remember was that the conversation I had with that lady started with "hi, hello" to where's your next destination, what to do and where to go and how their experience in the Alps was .. in general .. and then many things more :D

I don't think it was close , no

I have been there 2 years ago. It is amazing place. I hadnt chance to ship on Lucerne lake. I will go there again...

I hope you get to that time :)

The ferry looks really nice, I like that everything covered and behind glass, as sometimes it is cold outside but it is really nice to see the waves and the how the ferry breaks its way through. As to prices I can imagine that the cafe might be very expensive but being on board you have no other choice. That pier looks beautiful, I believe the place in sunset is beautiful and there is a bench just inviting to have a little moment to enjoy the peace and silence.
Seeing that stairs I remember your video to climb up the stairs in Lucerne towers. but not really so long way. I hope the church looks beautiful from inside too.

It's also very clean inside and the toilet's super neat.
Yes, if you're very hungry you won't have a choice but to eat there I guess. I saw a few enjoying coffee and beer but none of those we took the train with did.

Oh I didn't really go inside that church, I am not a huge fan of churches as I don't go to any so if you notice I only have featured one I went into because at that time I was with my father in law and we were hoping to get a panorama shot of our own city. It looks pretty outside though, I featured it here for a hint of the time.

I agree with you, I am the same in regards to churches, I remember once when in Venice I went in one of the church because after walking the whole day my feet and legs were aching and also because it was hot outside and nice cool inside. To tell the truth there were many tourists just laying in the benches in church too I thought the have had the same problem like me :)

oh I did visit a lot during my first years here
but that's also just for checking out what they look like inside
or going up the towers
to get a view of the city below
back then there weren't much drones yet
it was more exciting
now you can just do that with a drone and a permit :D
and like you, to sit for free in a shade :D

Vierwaldstatterferry is so nice when the weather is nice...otherwise brrrrr

I remember this rainy day in mid summer all to well heading towards the KKL hahahahahha

that day you were on the 2nd floor waiting for that Dutch guy's concert you wrote!
what's KKL?

Kunst und Kultur Luzern... :)

Its the big building left from the trainstation when you are in front of the station

Yeah I was there more days in that week for the music stuff hehe

ah, afgekort :D

you were there that day :D
so you wrote :D
small world
who would have thought had I given in to my husband's suggestion of checking it out, we would have met ... but then it was too crowded .. perhaps not either :D
we might go back :D

With all the adventures, you've done a super nice trip. Sometime in my childhood I've done a similar trip there, I think it was another boat :) I love Switzerland, their lacks in the mountains and Lucerne is for what I remember, also a pretty nice city.

we did ..
I love the mountains there, too

Probably there was a cool one, I very much love the gloomy and rainy weather. A cool trip on the water!
