An innocent girl does not flaunt her beauty

An innocent girl does not flaunt her beauty, in fact her innocence is her biggest attraction.

She is simple, down to earth and modest.

As a photographer, I love to be involved in every single part of a photoshoot from brainstorming for a theme in the beginning to deciding the outfit and make-up for my model and to post-processing of the images I obtained from a photoshoot.

For this shoot, I want her to dress modestly or conservatively to portray an innocent look that fits the character of my story. As we all know, a woman’s innocence is often and best reflected in her apparel. Back to about 2 weeks before the photoshoot, I told her I want her to wear a pure white, knee-length dress for the photoshoot. Why? Firstly, white colour symbolizes purity and innocence. Secondly, a knee-length dress helps to create the girl-next-door impression. Although she didn’t have one, she really put in the effort to look for a dress that fit all my requirements.

Oh, how I love her dress! What I love the most about her dress is the lace that adds another layer of details to the overall look. The lace fabric is not only intricate but also have delicate and complex designs. Again, the lace details make the dress/photos more interesting. Although most people might think that lace is provocative but in this case, I think it just makes our girl look more innocent.

Tips: A great tip to remember when taking photos of something white, in our example – the white dress, is to try and reduce the exposure when taking the photos. The reason behind doing this is to retain the details of the dress as much as possible and to avoid blown-out highlights in the photos. Later on during post-processing, bring up the exposure and reduce the highlights to bring back all the details. You don’t want to lose the details of the dress, do you?
