The theme of the last @SteemitPhotoChallenge pushed me to the idea of visiting and capturing in the photo the abandoned objects of my native city. It turned out to be not so little.
Today I will tell you about the most grandiose construction in Sumy, which has remained unfinished since the days of the Soviet Union to this day.
"Hiroshima" or Stonehenge - this is the popular name of the unfinished sports complex, located on the bank of the river Psel, in front of the student beach.
8 huge columns and a lot of concrete blocks near them can be seen even from a satellite on the Google map.
During the Soviet Union, they wanted to build a hockey arena with artificial ice and a hall for 3 thousand spectators.
It is difficult to say why this object was not finished yet under the USSR. There is an opinion that there are floating soils below, and they will not withstand a high-rise building. Today this piece of land in the center of the city turned into an abandoned wasteland with apocalyptic landscapes.
The authorities of the city can not think of what to do with this object so far while rock climbers and novice graffiti artists are training here.
It is very difficult to find such a place from where the whole object would be seen, so I took some pictures and tried to combine them into a panorama.
I hope you enjoyed it. In the nearest future I will try to post a few more stories about similar places in my native town.
