Vesuvio is fantastic! I've never been close to Vesuvio, but I watched some docu movie about it and it's really impressive.

It is fascinating. It is looming above the bay of Napoli. A force of nature which you can't escape.

I would not want to be close when that baby went off! I have always been fascinated with volcanology and the tremendous power that generates their eruptions. At one time I was watching several web cams mounted around various active volcanoes from all over the world, but after a computer crash a few years ago I got out of the habit and never set up the feeds again.
