Saturday, 7 January 2017, was a day for predators to visit my backyard. Shortly after I saw a coyote running through my backyard, a Sharp-Shinned Hawk landed on top of my bird feeders.

Wow that's a beautiful bird

Thank you!

I really hope I got his identification right. Cooper's Hawks and Sharp-Shinned Hawks are nearly identical to me.

Steem on,
Mike

great bird shot

Thank you!

I was very fortunate that the hawk stayed perched there while I took pictures. They have great eyesight. As soon as they spot me or the camera moving they are gone.

While I know it is nature, I am happy to report that the hawk did not catch a meal at my feeders today. I have seen evidence of kills before though.

Mike

Simply stunning..!! Great photos Mike. Stephen

Thank you!

Wow, excellent catch. I don't think I've seen a sharp skinned hawk before. I like that you were able to get the red of his eye so vividly.

We get a lot of European buzzards around here (common hawk), I posted one of my fav in flight pics on Steemit a while back.

Thank you! When this hawk flew off, I was way too far zoomed in to follow its quick take-off. In case I didn't mention it, this picture was taken in eastern Nebraska, USA.

Excellent shot of your common hawk in flight. Keep those great photographs coming.
Upvoted and followed.
