Hideaway

A tiny little blue hideaway in the middle of a tiny little Finnish village. Less than 50 people and more than 20 kilometers to the nearest store. Half a meter of snow and sub zero temperatures. A lot of silent nature and abandoned buildings, a few signs of life still moving.

Beautiful winter wonderland! The icicles on the trees are just stunning.

Brilliant photos!

Buying a ‘proper’ camera is still on my wish-list/todo-list😂

Oh I can sell you one for mere.. ONE MILLION DOLLARS!

I mean some say "It doesn't matter what kind of camera you have when you're a good photographer" but I can tell you, a great camera and good lenses make a difference.

How about ONE MILLION DOGECOIN instead?😜 (and it needs to be the most expensive camera you can buy, too!)

Oh I wouldn't complain about that! My camera is not actually the most expensive one you can buy.. but I can give you my signature on it, so I assume it would be extremely expensive after that?

😉

It does make a difference, instead of people complimenting your photography skills, they compliment the camera, I love it!

You are an exception to the rule.

Most people appreciate great photos.

However what people do not appreciate is usually great photographers. "I could do the same if... I had a similar camera / I spent time on photography / I even tried / blah blah"

It's usually about the camera. The standard "Anyone can buy an expensive camera and take great photos".

Fuck that.

I'm actually currently looking to replace my old Canon EOS 500d with a better camera, maybe a full-frame Canon if I can find an affordable one.

People love saying ”I could do that” about a lot of artistic things, but the point is that they never do.

Ohh, a full frame would be great! I need to get one at some point too but I think I can go quite a long way with this current one.

People love saying ”I could do that” about a lot of ARCTIC things, but the point is that they never do.

Makes sense

Thank you darling! :) It's pretty fun to use a proper camera, compared to the old one that didn't do what I wanted it to.

Looks amazing! Gonna have to look into one of those Nikon D7200s

How beautiful! The world is in white and blue tones ... snow, trees, air, sky, ah, amazing! And silence ... Thank you for such wonderful photos!

the earth has music for those who listen... Definitely u are a good listener... ur photography skills tho...

Very nic posts.

Thats perferct a nice little getaway house would be so relaxing and fun at the same time I love it

Stunning photos! Really good photography skills!

This looks like the sorta place I could hibernate in winter. Isolated and beautiful, what's not to like?

Isolated, beautiful and cold, just like me.

Too much? Maybe.

Wow, that's incredible! 20km must take a while with that kind of snow too! Although I'm hoping/assuming the roads are at least clearish!! Really lovely shots! Clearly you don't need that instruction manual after all!

The roads are usually pretty clear, depending on how much it snows.

That is a huge compliment coming from you, thank you very much😊🤗 I’m still gonna read your tutorials and maybe learn something more.

Whew! I bet it's a nightmare when it snows! Mind you, I guess everyone's pretty prepared for it with their favourite snowmobiles!!

You're welcome! You take some stunning shots! I really appreciate you following the tutorials :) I think it's time for another this weekend!

What are you thinking for the new tutorial?

I'm thinking about one on planning for the perfect shoot. Or I was thinking I'd write about what I found when I experimented with boosting my posts. But I wonder if that's one that people have to just find out for themselves? Anything you are struggling with photography-wise at the moment?

I think you should write about boosting the post, give people your honest view about it, it could be interesting and raise some conversation.

At the moment I'm struggling with finding motivation for some self portraits I have in mind. It's so damn hard (and time consuming) sometimes when I'm the model, makeup artist, hairdresser, stylist, set designer and photographer at the same time.

Thanks, it was a toss up but the landscape one involved some editing, so I'll save that for tomorrow and go for the post boosting one!

I bet! It's difficult when you feel you have to keep changing it up, maybe when you're feeling less motivated you could revisit shoots you've done before and try to improve on them. Chances are if you look back to earlier shoots you'll find a few you look at and think 'I could do that better now I'm more experienced!'. That way it's less about being creative, and more about working on the skills that back up your creativity!

That is a great idea! I already had the idea that I’d review my old photos, so that and then really trying to re-do them would be interesting. :)

Wow..... amazing photography, i like this nature. personally i like winter time

I am very glad that you left your old job. getting multiple daily uploads from you is just amazing.

Great to hear that you don't mind that some days I put out two posts :)

sexy girl competing with sexy nature in order to decide which is more aesthetically appealing? surely there are worse things in life:P
Besides I got the best seats to watch this spectacle.

Very beautiful) life alone with nature...

Oh, my! This is such a breathtaking scenery! Believe me or not, I have never seen snow in my entire life, so this makes me want to visit Finland even more! Please keep posting more photos like this so I can experience Winter Wonderland through you!

It's funny when sometimes I've seen tourist come in and (usually) the kids haven't seen any snow before and they go crazy jumping in and gazing to the sky trying to catch snowflakes :D

That's gonna be me if I ever go to Finland HAHAHA

beautiful area

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Which area of Finland is this? I've been to Rovaniemi and Kemijärvi but it's already long time ago.
At that time i was backpacking through Scandinavia with a friend. From Denmark to Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, Narvik, Rovaniemi, Kemijärvi, Salla, Turku, Stockholm, and then back home to Belgium

This place is some 400 kilometers south from Rovaniemi :)

Is this a resort during the Summer? I really light how you backlit the tree on the bottom photo.

Nope, just a regular little Finnish village, the countryside is filled with similar kinds :D

Such a beautiful, yet inhospitable place!

High price for such beauty in nature.

How long have you been painting? Does your camera make good photos always? When are the worst photos coming out?
Your work is good=))

Thank you @eveuncovered for making me dream that way.

oh that blue house must be mine! I love it. very sweet winter photos. very good quality and successful shots. congratulations :)

It doesn't have any running water, hope you don't mind that xD

Where is it? Do you live there? Woow such a paceful places... love the white snow in the trees is like glass ✨🙏🏻❤️

good post friend, I invite you to see my blog

You've got great Photography skills! Amazing photos @eveuncovered !

wow cool....

That looks like a nice cozy place to spend a few weeks in with nothing else but yourself and a few dear ones around. Ok, maybe a camera as well. ;)

That third photo has a special vibe to it. One that's soothing to the soul.

Enjoy your time there, Eve. Proper winter in other places is more and more a faraway dream it seems. :)

It's always very peaceful in here, even with the roar of a snowmobile from time to time :P I love it here! We can find comfort that there will always be a good winter in Finland, one just has to go further north sometimes to find it.

I really like it, and light very interesting

I like your post. this place is very good for a vacation

OMG, People living there may have the heart of Yeti. :) Too much cold. Nice Shot

Isn't Yeti said to live in the Himalaya? That's pretty far from here ;D

Yup, mythical creatures. I live here in Himalaya (Nepal) :)

Wow. This is just beautiful. I couldn't live in a climate like this one. However, I could definitely make a visit and have a short stay for a week or 2. Great shots. You've invoked a positive emotional response with your photography skills. Thanks for a great post..

That's what humans are, always try to do next impossible thing.you also doing it for the sake of adventure photoghraghy😉😊
Charles Darwin must be really proud on his thoughts today😂

Darwin is my homeboy!

Oh! He was from Finland, now I got it why he said "struggle for existence"😊

Though I just googled him. He is British still far from you.biritish wheather also suits his quote though.☺️☺️

Nice shoot... Hello steemian please upvote and follback my steem... Thanks

Amazing

Looks cozy when the weather outside is chilly! Truly a winter wonderland.

@eveuncovered
That looks like an idyllic get away which I could use right about now. love the view and snow and peaceful serenity conveyed in the images.

Luck you... enjoy, stay blessed

Now i can learn from you how to take good views. Thanks sensei. You my upvote :)

Beautiful photos, thank you for sharing them, im yearning for that peace that comes when snow lies thick on everything, not sure how i would handle the temperatures though!

A great place to read a book, cozily covered in quilts, fingers wrapped a hot cocoa, snuggling one lover. Thank you for warm inspirations.

Amazingly awesome!!!!!

Wow less than 50 people that is wild! Earth is hiding so much

Great photo sharing and camera results

Oehh i really love snow shots!! Awesome work !:)

So nice and peaceful. A little bit like the atmosphere here today... without the snow, since we never get much here. Only on the surrounding mountains.

Amazing, how you could point straight at the sun and still get such perfect photos... Which makes me wonder, if you ever considered getting a Sola account. I think your photos would be very successful there as well. I just managed do transfer a first batch of SOL to may ethereum wallet, although so far I couldn't quite figure out, what one can do with it 😋

Can you see the mountains from your home?

I shoot in Raw so I can bring more detail out from both the brightest and the darkest parts of the photos. I’ll do a before and after post soon :)

I actually have a Sola account, but I didn’t really like the place. It seems that people just share random pictures stolen from other people and earn sol with that. I couldn’t figure out what to do with sol either 😅

Low mountain range, but yes, I can see them :-) And its a lot of fun to buzz around here on the Rocket... sigh... two more month 😰

Would be great, if you could share some of your editing skills and a before and after!

Yeah, that Sola seems has a bit of an unfinished and chaotic touch. But the German crowd is pretty active and I see more and more fellow steemians there. Figure it doesn't take much, to share a pic there too and now that their wallet is working, it might just as well turn into something worth wile... I'M there, if you ever post there again, please let me know 😀

fabulous place! it's just a break from the world :)

It is very beautiful to be there with the accompanying sunlight warming the body. the snow charm I dreamed of. @eveuncovered

These are gorgeous shots. They give me a lot of writing ideas. :)
