I see you...steemCreated with Sketch.

In search of pretty and colorful flowers I pass by those blooming grasses. Sometimes I completely skip them. Sometimes there is something that makes me wanna take some shots. This one was in bloom (perfect timing, girl) and if you have a closer look, it is a quite an interesting one.

Dactylis smithii

See the white parts sticking out from the little green pockets (I have no clue how to call those thing in English, so this is how I will call them)? They emerge one by ones starting form the bottom. Covered in pollen to attract pollinators. Then it will produce seeds and the cycle begins.
Wonder how many times a year they do it. I seems that grasses just wont stop blooming and growing. Just to feed all the little hungry animals.

Really nice shots of a little noticed phenomenon. For something that happens so much, so few of us notice.

Thank you! That is the reason I love macro photography so much. We are missing so many little things...

I took a spring vacation to eugene oregon once and all the grass was blooming at the same time. Instant allergies. Now with these high res macros i can see the culprits.

Oh I don't envy you. I am still waiting for the allergy rush this year. Hopefully its gonna be mild...

Seems only the trees and certain tall grasses affect me but after spring is over im good even against the yellow pine dust.
