If you hear sports wind surfing Indonesia certainly not separated by the name of Oka Sulaksana. The native Balinese son who has long been in this 'rare' sport has become a living legend with various amazing achievements that he achieved until now.
Men born in Bali, 29 April 1971 it seems to have no rivals who can shift his position in the sport that has a lot of scent Red and White through this achievement. Since its emergence in 1985 until now at the age that has stepped on 37 years, the child of the couple I Gusti Putu Raka Adi and Ni Gusti Ketut Oka it remains a leader in the wind surfing sport in the country. No wonder because of his achievements he had the honor to ignite fire in the Asian Beach Games (ABG) kaldron.
His achievements began during the first year he got to know the sport, when he had already shown his achievements by becoming the Bali Open champion. Seeing his talents and achievements, the coaches of the Board of Directors of Screen Sports and Wind Surfing Indonesia (PB Porlasi) entrusted him to join the Singapore Open championship and he responded to that belief by winning again.
Under the direction of the coach of Iskandar Sea Colonel who was also Porlasi's porch board at the time, Oka's ability was sharpened so he was unbeaten at the national level from 1986-2004. His various titles, among them being four-time Sea Games champion, were won in 1993 in Singapore, 1995 in Chiang Mai, Thailand, 1997 in Jakarta and 2001 in Kuala Lumpur and due to his achievements he received special honors from the Southeast Asian Windsurfing Organization.
His achievements have shone up in the Asian Games event, winning two gold medals at the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand and 2002 in Busan, South Korea. In fact, at the level of Southeast Asia he incised amazing achievements by always winning gold from 1993 to 2001. Oka is also one of the most Indonesian athletes perform at the Olympics. Already four Olympics followed by him. 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, USA (Rank 11), Olympic 2000 Sydney, Australia (Rank 13), 2004 Athens Olympics, Greece (Rank 15) and Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, China (Rank 27).
Feeling not young anymore, Oka declared himself to retreat as an athlete and switch as a coach. Currently he already has a surf club called Sanur Wind #Surfing Club and fostering dozens of protégés. Since 2003 he has served as Chairman of Bali Porlasi Government after previously leading Pengcab Porlasi Kodya Denpasar. Even in PB Porlasi itself Oka sits as Chairman of the Indonesian Windsurfing Association. Oka has practically dedicated his entire life to the world.
