Since there is a huge difference in altitutde from the bottom of the valley and to upper parts of the park you can get the feeling if you move up in elevation you feel as though you are in another park.

The vegetational changes from oak woodlands to all the way to the upper subalpine to alpine. Thats where the climate is cooler, because of the long, cold, and snowy winters. These images where taken along the Tioga Pass.

Of course, we don't know for sure how old these trees are. Yet some trees in Yosemite have been recorded to be 2500 - 3000 years old. Here shown specimens would probably not range high up in the 3000 years, but easy 500 or even 1000 plus years seem realistic, considering the harsh condition up in the park throughout the year.

You want to know more specifics about the plants that inhabit the National Park?

Trees definitely hold a key role in today's climate discussion. We don't ask you to become a tree hugger yet we ask you to take a moment and appreciating what nature's gift they represent to us.
