Our eggs are hatching! - homesteading

in photography •  8 years ago

3 weeks ago be began incubating our chicken eggs. We "candled" them to be sure they were growing.

Our first chick! Now named "Hamburger" as today is Hamburgers day on the calendar.

Finally passed put with one of my daughter's toy chicks. We used the chick to show the baby how to eat and drink. It worked!

I will keep you guys updated as the next 6 babies hatch over the next few days.

That's so cute! Why did you decide to hatch them? Did you rescue them? All the best to the little guy (or girl) :)

These are from eggs from our first set of chickens. We just wanted more chickens for organic pest control and we love fresh eggs. It has been so exciting. These are their babies!

Aha, I see! That's really cool. Good luck with the little ones the upcoming days :)

Good for you. I won't comment on naming your chicks because when we got chicks, I told the kids that you don't name livestock. In a few days, I guess they stopped being livestock because they all had names. ;-)

The kids are mostly in charge of that aspect. We plan on keeping these as layers. I named one George Jones. 😂

They really are mesmerizing to watch.

OMG that's wonderful! It's so damn cute!:)

Right?! I'm so "eggcited." Hahaha!

lovely chick

I can't wait to post more of them!
