The photo above is a photo of my cat. His name is Mickey :D
The photo was took kinda in random fashion, I was sitting on the coach watching TV with my camera on my lap and noticed that the light from the window was hitting my cat on an awsome angle... so I took the shot.
Until this day this is one of my favourite shots, and definitely one of the photos that pops the most!
But why does it pop? What makes it so special? Its just a cat looking outside a window right?
Well, the tricks in this shot are quite simply resumed to composition, color and simplicity.
Composition
Notice that the photo is divided into 3 parts. This is a composition trick called rule of thirds. Its a very well known rule in photography. By dividing your photo into 3 and putting your subject near one interception of the grid, you draw the viewers attention to what matters in your photo, this case the cat.
The photo takes this rule a step futher and its even divided in 3 in the tridimensional space (back curtain, foward curtain and cat). By putting the cat on the closest tridimencional space again... you make the viewer look to the cat!
Color and Simplicity
Theres not alot of range in of color in the photo. There is yellow, grey and green pretty mutch... that is perfect to make your photos pop, because it gives the viewer less distraction, less information.
Also the background is bland, the curtains work has pretty mutch just a texture. They give you all the information you need too know its a window, but dont rob you from the true MVP, the cat.
In photography less is more, the less you give to the viewer, the more your message will get across and the more magical your photos will be.
