So true on so many levels. I think this can apply to so many other creative arts as well. We go through a lot of strife, and what we do isn't easy, to achieve that level of greatness requires a lot of dedication, determination and focus. In turn these things will require a lot of sacrifice. In the end, there is always the gratification of achieving our creative goal and there is nothing in the world that feels as good. Your photographs are gorgeous and your hard work has certainly paid off. Your point about having to have such a high response caliber to ensure you don't miss a single moment is exactly why I love and hate wedding photography. I shot a wedding once and had a lot of poor luck - its extremely difficult and there is a lot of pressure to make sure you get those specific moments, that like you say, are once in a lifetime! It's truly amazing the skill required to be a great photographer for very important events. Looking forward to following you and seeing more of your great work!
