I was sad to leave Huatulco but totally looking forward to being by the ocean and swimming IN the ocean...but more importantly I couldn't wait to arrive to our final destination in Oaxaca: Puerto Escondido.

But first: Mazunte.

The plan was to take taxis from Huatulco to Mazunte and spend the night st this amazing AirBnB built tree house style ... and amazing it was.

We arrived at Mazunte and made ourselves at home. Went out to have dinner and walk around and get familiar with the area.

Mazunte is a medley of locals and transplants...and the best way to describe the population is hipster surfer lol Except the Mexican locals. I feel like in places like this, though every one is welcome and at home, it is very easy to spot the genuine locals vs the transplant locals.

Everyone hangs out and drinks, eats and dances on the street. The vibe here was very laid back and super beach town.

Our first and only night in Mazunte was short but very enjoyable. We spent the next day out and about and exploring some more, as you will see in the photos.

Mazunte is a small but very beautiful town, with a beautiful beach, beautiful people, and some hiking trails with some of the most stunning views.

We decided to take a hike up this hill near where we stayed and though we decided to climb this mountain in the noon sun, it was totally worth it...even though I got sunburn lol

Mazunte is an extremely beautiful little town...and the people treat you like you are one of them.

Stree dogs in Mazunte belong to everyone. Just about evey shop and restaurant had water and food bowls where all of the animals could stop by and nourish themselves. This beauty hung out with us during breakfast and ahe definitely got treats lol. After we were done, the owners put food out for her, the chickens and the dogs and cats around the area.

Mural on the way up to hike. I'm going to have to find the artist. Exquisite work. I love all of the graffitti everywhere we went in Mexico.

Latin America has some of the most beautiful cemetaries. I want to go to Puerto Rico just to photograph them.

We walked further down and then up.and then doen again to this beach that had death warning signs that we missed. Oshun took my earring that day, so I gave her my other one willingly. She was pleased.

I would've liked to spend more time in Mazunte, but Puerto Escondido was waiting...and I am so glad we left when we did.

Puerto Escondido is my favorite place in Mexico so far, and I can't wait to share it with you ♡
