An architectural poet

Yesterday, I visited the campus of Florida Southern College. While there, I visited one of the oldest landmarks on the campus, Annie Pfeiffer Chapel.

Annie Pfeiffer chapel was dedicated in the year 1941 and was the first architecural piece designed by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright on the Florida Southern College campus. Wright went on to design quite a bit more of the campus, but the chapel was the first.

The artistry of the chapel is unbelievable. Not only is it wonderful that the campus has kept the original look of the chapel intact, but the symmetry of it all is awe worthy.

Originally, all church and mass services were held inside the chapel, as well as convocations. Convocation used to be a weekly requirement by the school where every student had to attend. Since then, convocation has become a monthly event and is held in the bigger Branscomb Auditorium, mainly due to the increase in student enrollment.

Truly a beautiful work of art. Wright is an architectural poet, and his beautiful work can be seen through the chapel.

Oh well ... really amazing building interior. Lots of almost hexagons. I love architecture, looking at it, not building.
