The religious festival, which is my favorite, began on Monday, the feast day in celebration of the patron saint of the city of Recife, Our Lady of Carmel (Nossa Senhora do Carmo). A different air takes over the city in the days leading up to the party. Masses take place every day in the Basilica of Our Lady of Carmel, built in the year of 1665 and in that year the party is in its edition number 321.

The church is crowded with people all week long

"In the Heart of the Mother all our Intentions", is what we read on the poster in front of the church

The area of the Carmel Courtyard (Pátio do Carmo) that is all the region that surrounds the Church is full of attractions. We can see the stage where the shows of Catholic bands happen at night, the small shops that sell religious articles related to the party and also a small amusement park that animate the children who come with their parents accompany the celebrations in the church.

I am very devoted to Our Lady of Carmel, I have her as my second mother and I could not pass up this opportunity to pay her homage. Like every year I buy the tape of Our Lady of Carmel and put it on my arm. There is a belief in these tapes that for you to have the blessings come with the use of it, it is necessary to hold it in the arm making 3 knots, where each knot corresponds to a request or grace that you want to achieve.

There are several stores that sell the Our Lady of Carmel bracelet.

On Sunday, July 16 is the main celebration of the feast of Our Lady of Carmel and for sure I will be there. On that day the procession will take place with the image of the saint and I and @cleateles will take advantage of this moment to thank all the blessings achieved and asking for courage, perseverance and creativity so that we can overcome the difficulties that we may eventually encounter in our lives.

Being thankful, being connected with the divine seeking your blessings and guidance to me is one way to live a life positively.

Stay tuned to the next chapters of my "Walking in the City", sure enough many stories, culture and curiosities about my city I will tell you here on my blog.

As fotos da igreja ficaram top :)

Parabéns!

Valeu, obrigado!

Eu amo ir a quermesses!
