I arrived to Miskolc on Friday and when I got out of the car, the rain was falling. Just because I put on my rain poncho, only my leather slippers became wet, but very much! It took 24 hours to dry inside.
The Bükk mountains is the most humid area of Hungary, especially in June, when the warm, wet air rises above the forest, clouds emerge and rain falls frequently. This is a kind of cycle that is maintained by warm, moist air. On Friday, almost two months of rain fell in this area, the Szinva stream swollen and flooded the lowlands. Fortunately, the house where we stayed (I lived there 2 years), is up on the hillside, surrounded by rich vegetation that prevents the soil erosion.
