Thanks for another educational post. My free trial of Lightroom ran out so I am going to have to find a way to follow your lessons in other software. You are editing jpegs, would editing RAW be different?

Too bad your trial ran out.. But I think there is loads of free software with about the same basic adjustment possibilities as in Lightroom. Things like contrast, vibrance, saturation etc.
I am indeed editing the small size JPEG's I find here on Steemit. Editing RAW would be completely different. In a RAW photo, there is so much detail in the shadows for example. With a RAW file, you can completely raise the shadows, while keeping the picture pleasing for the eye. If you do this with a JPEG, there will be a lot of (color) noise.
I always recommend people shooting in RAW, because it gives so much more possibilities in post-processing.
