Wreckage of a Boat

Something I stumbled upon in Hastings as I was making my way to the aquarium. On the beach, just a little ways away from a flotilla of perfectly functional small boats, is this little wreckage. There's no explanation, no reason for its decrepit state. It just sits there in ruin, a mystery. In a small town that regularly pays tribute to the members of the community lost at sea, its actually rather logical that it was just left there. A reminder.

Most coastal towns in England are rather similar. You will always find the small arcade, the smell of the catch of the day being sold on the seafront. There's a general attitude of whimsy and magic about them that you don't find anywhere else. Hastings hits the mark in all of these, however there is something else in this ancient town. Perhaps due to its dark and bloody history, it has an air of melancholy that a lot of coastal towns are shaking off as the years pass. Life on the sea has always been dangerous work, and this town doesn't let you forget that.
