LSCOTTPHOTOS PhotoPoll #8 - What is your greatest weakness?

in photography •  8 years ago  (edited)

Photographers can take hundreds of photos to get just the right shot. We may fumble through different settings and different mistakes, but we only post the finished product - our best photo.

I think this makes amateurs feel discouraged because we only see the best of the best. But what we need to remember is that everyone makes mistakes!

This brings us to our eighth PhotoPoll question...
What is your greatest weakness (in regards to photography of course)?

Photo from Pexels and used under the CC0 liscence.

Personally, I have problems with focus. Something that should be so basic is so difficult for me to execute. I find that auto focus never gets a crystal clear image (at least on the right subject) and manual focus looks clear through the lens but is tricky to actually focus on the right subject. A slight miscalculation can result in a blurred photo once downloaded even though it looked good on the camera!

We all must remember that practice makes perfect... and NOT just in terms of photography!

Now it's your turn! What do you find you struggle with more often than not? Do you have any ideas on how to overcome this obstacle?

Great article!!!

Thanks!

Focus is a good candidate. For me that must be second or third on my list.
Oddly enough my major photography weakness is people. Not to say I can't work with models or people in photos but I find them difficult to capture nicely.
I have the occasional candid shot which works, however that has more to do with luck or the stars aligning or something.
The weakness comes in my direction. Even when I know how to orient a person I try not to be bossy. So my passive nature means I don't always get the absolute best from my photo subjects.
So my favorite photos are almost all landscapes, macros, animals, birds so on so forth.

I can completely relate, I also have a hard time photographing people, although mine stems from social anxiety. Thank you for commenting!

I struggle with simply getting out of "Auto" mode! I've learned how to work with my 18-55mm lens, I frame a pretty good shot, and I make pretty good corrections on the computer afterward... I just wish I could play with all the settings more... I've had it all explained to me numerous times by numerous folks, and the mechanics of it just won't stick! Still having fun though :)

Having fun is the most important part! And I also struggle with sticking to auto, that's why I'm exploring more in this photography blog through trial and error!
