Last night @corinnestokes saw a friend post on Facebook about this amazing museum in Huntsville, Alabama which is less than 2 hours away. Of course, I responded with, "You want to go tomorrow?"

So here's what we did today on Sunday, June 25th. We had a blast!

When we first showed up, I didn't even realize this is where Space Camp happens! Campers were lining up for that week.

My crew.

At first I thought this was an SR71 but it's actually an A-12. I didn't realize they were different.

The scale of this place and these rockets is so hard to capture with my phone. The are massive!

IMG_7703.png

So much cool stuff inside.

Ever since Star Trek, I was thinking of Voyager 1 as V'ger.

The tour for the ISS was pretty amazing.

I allowed myself one selfie with @corinnestokes, though the lighting was terrible.

IMG_7724.png

Well, maybe two selfies if you count my reflection on this one:

IMG_7729.png
IMG_7730.pngIMG_7731.png

Aria was sad in this one because she had lost her stuffed animal (which we warned her not to bring because she might lose it). We ended up retrieving it from the lost and found at the end of the day.

IMG_7732.png

They even had some rides for the little ones.

IMG_7734.png

And for the adults.

IMG_7741.png

The scale of these things... they are just enormous.

IMG_7736.pngIMG_7737.pngIMG_7738.pngIMG_7739.pngIMG_7740.pngIMG_7743.pngIMG_7744.png

There's no way I could capture the magnitude of the Saturn V hall. This entire building could barely hold how massive this rocket is.

IMG_7752.pngIMG_7751.pngIMG_7749.png

Here's the second stage boosters.

IMG_7762.png

This is just the tip (okay, okay, no Archer joke here).

IMG_7779.png

They had all kinds of amazing stuff in here.

I hope you enjoyed this picture journey. If you ever get a chance to visit the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, I highly recommend it! Also, because we're annual members of the Adventure Science Center in Nashville, we got in for free! Speaking of the Science Center, do you remember when I posted last week about seeing moon rocks (and they were tiny)?

Now, THIS is a moon rock!

To the moon, STEEM. Let's get us some more rocks. :)

I hope you had a great Saturday with your loved ones as well.

That place is so interesting. The size of everything and complexity is what gives a person chills! Thanks for the post

It was so incredible. Hard to capture it with my phone camera.

wow cool. if i got a chance to visit!

we need the reddit version of "banana for scale by unique to steemit."

Any suggestions?

Hahah! That might be fun. I'd need a truckload of banana's to put any scale on these things.

I'd love for Steemit to do something completely new that goes viral. Something people come to Steemit just to experience. I don't want us trying to follow everyone else, but to lead!

What an awesome family adventure! That's an incredible place to visit and I'm glad you managed to find your daughter's toy at the end of the day. Thanks for sharing and definitely STEEM to the moon!!

Steem to the moon!

That looks like a ton of fun! You and the family should check out OMSI if you are ever in the area. https://omsi.edu/ Not always as spectacular as spaceships, but interactive and really fun for the whole family.

Cool! Thanks for the suggestion. We don't get out to Portland much, but we'll keep that in mind if we do!

Awesome photos! I actually won an essay contest when I was younger and got to go to Space Camp! It was my first time being so far from home on my own but it was an amazing and nerdy experience even if I almost crashed the shuttle when the landing gear didn't deploy during our simulation LOL.

Looking at your photos things are a bit different there! I would have to look at my old photographs but IIRC the Saturn rocket that is standing up straight in your photos was laying on its side, and there was no ISS tour (which looks pretty cool!). The only downside was I was a year too young to do the fighter jet stuff heh. If there's interest I can share some of my photos! Pretty sure I have them scanned and saved somewhere! :-)

amazing stuff!!!
I love sci-fi stuff
thanks for the share

woow beautifull would love to visit there also

Great pictures. I pray our country can invest more into the space sector. We need to go to infinity and beyond!

Heck yeah! I think the private sector will make it happen if governments won't. Go SpaceX! :)

Yes I am really excited for Space X. I agree, private sector will take us. I think that is the way it should be. Obama wanted to get rid of private space sector and have the government handle everything in terms of civilian space travel. I dont think that is right. The future is bright @lukestrokes, I hope I will see you on a SpaceX flight one day brother. Steemian powered flight to the moon? So much innovation going on in our world right now blockchains / internet/cars -space flight. Amazing times.

That would be awesome! Steem Powered flights via Steem Millionaires sounds fantastic. :)

I was talking to @corinnestokes today and said "So, do you want to go to Mars? I mean... not right now, but maybe in 30-40 years?" She didn't seem too excited about the idea, but I think eventually it'll be a normal thing, just like flying all over this planet is normal now.

Amazing times indeed. :)

I think that we started evolving far beyond what is normal. Technology is taking a huge leap out of nowhere. For the past two years we have evolved more than the past 15.
Cant wait to see whats the next big thing in 2 3 years.

I've never been that interested in space stuff but even I would find this pretty amazing :) Great photos. It looks like you all had a great time

Luke this looks incredible! This place seems huge, did you have time to see everything? Any favourites? I'm from Toronto so I'm not sure I've got an opportunity to see something like this anytime soon, but next time i'm down south.... who knows!

Thanks for sharing :)

Yeah, I think we did get to see just about everything. We got there a bit before noon and left around 4pm. The kids were definitely worn out and on the edge of meltdown complaints but the end, but everyone had a really good time.

Good to hear man! 4 hours can be quite awhile for children, glad they made it through it haha!

Very interesting place to visit. Photos are excellent.

Cool, is the only word I can write here! :)

I never even knew that place existed, thanks for the post. I would love to take my son there to see the Space and Rocket centre. Everything is massive lol

I didn't either until last night. And then we went today. :)

Great little Stokes crew you got there! Always loved the space museums.

Ever been to NASA here by Houston?

No, but maybe someday we'll check it out. :)

So cool!

This is such an excellent post. I had no idea that this was in Alabama.

I will definitely visit this place next time I'm in town.

wow ,the moon rock, now im thinking why did we stop going to moon

So much Murica! Nobody can handle so much Murica!

Yeah, the infusion of space tech with military tech was a bit hard to swallow. There was a bit of "hurray for our side!" as well, but the ISS stuff was cool as it emphasized the international nature of the cooperation involved.

Either way, the technology and massive size was really amazing.

They are impressive. I am just busting your balls man. I enjoyed the pictures

Wow, many thanks for sharing all these with us! It's a journey I myself would have never affort to make otherwise, appreciate it! Upvoted and followed :D

Amazing place, and fantastic Photography... lot of new things saw for the first time... And when when we think about the functions of these rockets and ships so it make it more interesting...

I love this place. Been once when I was a kid, then took the wife and kids there just last year. I'm a major space enthusiast, so this is heaven for me. Thanks for posting!

The kids don't look as amused as I would be at a place like this. Great pictures. I would love the opportunity to go and travel to see something like this. I got to see Cape Canaveral and that was pretty neat eventually all of this will be no longer so it's a great time to go and see it before it's gone forever

The day is like a puzzle game for children. After all, the canvas of the day is made of small colored fragments. Sometimes they successfully fit together and form a whole beautiful picture. But sometimes it's worth breaking your head to fold the picture as it should. I wish you to solve all problems successfully today, choosing solutions, as skillfully as the pieces of the puzzle. Colorful and positive to you day!

To the moon, looks like a old NASA inventory. Thanks you so much for sharing.

Wow, amazing and fascinating post! Thanks for sharing and looking forward for more!

Wow, that looks so cool. What an experience.

what a super place to be able to be able to visit with your kids, i reckon they had a ball. The final frontier. Excellent post.

Amazing! I want to go there one day.
