The Helix is a bridge in Singapore, that links the south and central areas of Marina Bay. The bridge was opened in 2010, completing the entire walkway around Marina Bay. The bridge features viewing platforms, located strategically to provide visitors with some of the best views of Singapore. At night, the bridge is lit up, highlighting its helix shape.
The design of the bridge was inspired by a curved DNA structure. Pairs of Letters ‘C’, ‘G’, ‘A’, and ‘T’ can be found on the bridge, and are also lit up at night. The letters represent Cytosine, Guanine, Adenine and Thymine, the four bases of DNA.
