This is Pepe, he's a parrot, yes, but he's also part of a loving family. I met him last Saturday, when my parents and I went to visit some familiars out of the state.
Some months ago, my father's uncle passed away, and we paid his widow a visit, to comfort her. She was so happy to see us, and since we hadn't visited in more than ten years, she showed us around.
Their house is very big and luxurious, however, it's lonely now my great uncle isn't around.
The thing that moved me the most about this visit was meeting this little fella. I wast told that Pepe used to say "Hello, papa!" (in Spanish, of course) everytime he saw my great uncle, who my father looks very similar to.
When my dad went to meet Pepe, he was saluted by him with his usual "Hello papa!". The sweet parrot was very excited to see my dad.
It kinda broke our hearts a little, but it was very comforting to hear Pepe say "Hello papa" for the first time in what probably seemed like forever to him. I don't think he was able to properly say goodbye to my great uncle, and even though this was just gladness inside confusion, he saw in my dad a healthy "Papa", and that was enough to make him happy.
