Tamsanian Blenny

in photography •  7 years ago

Image of a Tasmanian Blenny (Parablennius tasmanianus) taken at Narooma Wharf, NSW, Australia.

While only being around 50mm long these little fish are full of character & form complex social networks. It is quite humorous watching them interact & dispute territorial boundaries, which they do with some vigour.

They often inhabit small holes & cracks in the pylons of wharfs & piers or hide under rocks in shallow coastal areas.

Tasmanian Blennies diet consists mainly of algae & their distribution is in the cooler/temperate waters of South/Eastern Australia.
