questo è un viaggio attraverso l'Italia. Posterò una foto al giorno con una brevissima descrizione.

Bolsena è un borgo molto antico nella provincia di Viterbo, nella regione centro-italiana del Lazio. La città si trova sulle rive del lago più grande d'Italia, il lago di Bolsena.
Il sito della città e l'area circostante sono stati insediati già dall'età del ferro. Nel settimo secolo aC, i popoli dominanti erano i villanoviani, una delle prime tribù italiche. Il borgo antico è circondato dai resti di mura di tufo, che corrono per una distanza di circa 4 chilometri, che furono iniziate dagli Etruschi e completate dai Romani. Delle tombe etrusche sono state trovate nelle vicinanze di Bolsena.
Un castello noto come la Rocca Monaldeschi della Cervara fu costruito su una collina alle spalle della città tra il XII e il XIV secolo e domina ancora i vecchi quartieri medievali della città. Dal 1991 è sede del Museo Territoriale del Lago di Bolsena.
Nel centro storico i monumenti principali sono la Basilica di Santa Cristina e la Cappella del Miracolo (nota per un miracolo). Un prete boemo, nel dubbio sulla dottrina della Transustanziazione, riferì di aver visto sanguinare l'ostia che aveva consacrato durante la Messa.
I bastioni del castello offrono una vista spettacolare sulla città e sul lago di Bolsena. In mezzo al lago, raggiungibili con il taxi, ci sono due isole di proprietà privata, una (Isola Martana) è chiusa al pubblico, mentre l'altra (Isola Bisentina), che era una residenza estiva dei Papi, è aperta alle visite. Su quest'ultima ci sono una grande chiesa e un monastero.
Da vedere: Il centro storico, la Rocca Monaldeschi della Cervara, la Basilica di Santa Cristina, la Cappella del Miracolo, il Museo Territoriale del Lago di Bolsena, l'Isola Bisentina, le tombe etrusche.

Bolsena is a very ancient town in the province of Viterbo, in the Central Italian region of Lazio.The town sits on the shores of Italy's largest lake, Lago Bolsena.
The town site and immediate area have been settled as long ago as the Iron Age. In the 7th century BC, the dominant peoples were the Villanovans, an early Italic tribe. The old city is surrounded by the remnants of tufa walls, running for a distance of about 4 kilometers, that were started by the Etruscans and completed by the Romans. A number of Etruscan tombs have been found in the vicinity of Bolsena.
A castle known as the Rocca Monaldeschi della Cervara was built on a hill behind the town between the 12th and 14th centuries and still dominates the the old medieval quarters of the town. Since 1991 it has been the home of the Lake Bolsena Territorial Museum.
In the historical center the main monument are the Basilica of Santa Cristina and The Chapel of the Miracle (known for a miracle). A Bohemian priest, in doubt about the doctrine of Transubstantiation, reported bleeding from the host he had consecrated at Mass.
The castle ramparts offer spectacular views of the town and Lago Bolsena. In the midst of the lake, accessible by boat taxi, their are two privately owned islands, one (Isola Martana) is closed to the public, but the other (Isola Bisentina), which used to be a summer residence of the Popes, is open. There is a large church and monastery on the island.

Bellissima Bolsena e stupendo il lago <3 Ci sono andata qualche anno fa con il camper arrivando dalla Toscana. Non sapevo si potessero visitare le isole e soprattutto non mi ricordavo che ci fossero delle isole :DDD
