"Fragrant Indoor Herbs" Original Content ๐Ÿ“ธ

I was pleasantly surprised to find a great selection of live herbs available for purchase at my local Walmart store.

It's wonderful to have fresh herbs growing year round and at our disposal to add zestful flavor and aroma to our homemade meals and beverages!

The three images highlighted in my post are of my favorite fragrant herbs from the store: mint, basil and rosemary

Mint
image
Mint smells heavenly and you can use it to make your own tea, add to plain yogurt with fresh berries or to a chocolate smoothie.

Basil
image
Basil is very aromatic with aroma of mint, anise, and pepper. It tastes slightly minty, sweet, peppery and savory. I add basil to my Italian dishes.

Rosemary

Rosemary has a woody scent, like pine mixed with lemon and is very powerful and slighly bitter.Rosemary is great on pizza and flatbread as well as seafood.

My three favorite herbs are mint, basil and cilantro, but my oldest son loves using rosemary in his cooking.

Fresh herbs are rare now, and they are expensive if available at this time of year.

Yes, they are very expensive. My Dierbergs stores carry them in the organic produce section. Always a good idea to grow some herbs at home year-round. Happy Monday, Icy!๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

Nice post Nina - i keep my herbs in wintertime in the kitchen too. I love the scent they gives, especially the basil is uplifting!

Nice! I wish I had a good window seal to put a few herb plants on.

And just a leaf or two makes such a wonderfully fresh cup of tea this time of year!

Yes, that sounds perfect!

I tried growing these three and they always die on me. ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ

Mint is very hearty and spreads like crazy. Did you under or over water them? Try, try again I think!

Might have been overwatered. I will try again.
