This mushroom was growing out of a tree; a big mushroom, at about 40cm (16") across:
Olympus Stylus 1s, 60mm, ISO200, f5.6, 1/30s
There's a blade of grass sticking out of it; I don't know if it grew through or if the mushroom absorbed it.
I wonder about such things.

There is another species of grass (I don't recall the name) that is worse. My sisters dog ate some, including the seeds. The grass sprouted from inside and grew through the skin. She had to take it to the vet so have it removed. Pretty scary stuff.
