Joshua Tree National Park is great. It's also fun to go off-the-path, to places like Giant Rock in nearby Landers.
If you're into bouldering, then Giant Rock is a must do. The view is gorgeous, especially around the golden hours. There isn't a crowd. You might be the only person around for miles. It feels very free.
What I found intriguing, was the graffiti.
According to local legend, a man lived here once and tried building a home underneath Giant Rock. It didn't work out for him, but that hasn't stopped visitors from tagging his old foundation.
Plenty of desert mysticism was on display, too.
All photos were shot by me, using the Hasselblad mod for my Moto Z Play. I recommend it as a fun travel camera, for when you want to be light and snap shooting.
