As a myth, mythological creatures are believed to be truly existing creatures by the mythologists concerned. The mythological creatures associated with the folklore of a nation, appearing in folklore, artwork (statues, decorations, dances, etc.), and so on. For example, oni creatures in Japanese mythology, contained in folklore (Issun-Bōshi), paintings, performances (mask noh), and local festivals (Setsubun). Some beings, such as dragons, have origins that are spoken in their traditional mythology, and sometimes the narrative of a mythology is different from that of other mythologies, both of its physical nature and its origin.
