These dishes together are called "Chaurasi Byanjan" or 84 dishes, literally. They are fed ritually to the groom during weddings and a child during their rice-feeding ceremony, which is a weaning ceremony performed for girls at 5 months of age and boys at 6. It is supposed to mark the first time that the child will be eating rice (or solid food). The groom or child is supposed to only taste of the 84 dishes, not eat them all. Even a lick will suffice, as its purely for ritualistic religious purposes.
