Smooth car!

You got some really nice shots on your blog, followed!

No shit! Those extra fog lights and tan interior...pure class.

what year is this? My father recently picked up a 1966 Mercedes 230SL on a whim and he asked me to fix it up for him and I have no idea what to do with it. But this picture makes this thing look sexy as hell!

agreed, everything in this shot works for the car even though these old S classes always spread the cool prettty much wherever.

the sl though is a much happier and lighter car in terms of design language. the S has a commanding presence, not as all conquering and minimalistic in its execution such as the early 70s continentals but it's got that sovereign mood going on :)

this is a 65. so you have a pagoda to fix up? looooving that! here's a shot of one:

mine is a 4 door, so not a pagoda (or not even an SL?) I dont really know. I honestly know nothing about Mercedes, but I know how to get an engine running! My E30 is my first car project, otherwise I almost exclusive work on motorcycles.

There are a few manuals out there that seem to be useful for the Merc 230, but once I register the car, I'll get into the specifics of getting it road ready so I can drive it around town for fun. I don't have a picture of it, but it looks a lot like this, maybe it's not an SL?

It's a W110 also called 'Kleine Heckflosse' as in 'small tail fin'. Pretty classy car, back then it was like a Town Car in terms of segment.

Does it have the 6 cylinder? It was produced 61-67 I think. That one looks clean as hell!

Yup its a 6cyl. Mine is not as clean, but very close. Some. Of the paint and chrome is a bit worn from time. I'm thinking of either rechroming the trim and wrapping the car. Or just wrapping everything since the paint is original. But first, I need some plates. This car is severely under powered though. I think it's sub 100hp.

Haha...yeah 6 cylinder has 100 or 120hp. If carbs are adjusted and engine's running fine it should pull smoothly though as it's pretty light. Thing is you're lucky if the engine's got 70hp left in it.

That would hopefully just be worn top end. Fixable if I could go with new rings and..... Well it's unlikely the engine is sleeved. I think the block might be cast iron. Theres so much space in the engine bay, maybe a motorswap.... Muahhaa

God I love these. Thanks for the Pic.
