A very interesting example of domestic photographic equipment is the panoramic camera Horizon.
For the first time the idea of such a device in our country was realized by a man very far from photographic equipment - the designer-gunsmith Fedor Tokarev. That same Tokarev - the creator of the TT pistol.
Already being retired, he created a camera design with a rotating optical unit for panoramic shooting. As a carrier, a narrow film was used (type 135).
Tokarev brought his camera to KMZ. Alas, the design was not suitable for mass production, but it was very original - the rich design background affected.
Engineers KMZ creatively approached the design and created a camera Horizon. The film is narrow, type 135. It should be noted that it is often not easy to find the Horizon in a complete set - a removable panoramic viewfinder was very often lost.
Like FT, Horizon was a completely mechanical camera.
The horizon was produced at the Krasnogorsk factory from 1967 to 1973, and since 1989 the plant has mastered the production of the Horizon-202 panoramic camera. It had a slightly different appearance, a different location of the viewfinder. Also, the medium-format Horizon-205 was mastered.
