Here's a few of the photos I took today, in my local town.
This shop looks like it's been closed for many years. I wonder what it's like inside? It's hard to imagine it being used as a shop again.
This shop was open not long ago but looks like it could go the same way. Hopefully the shutters will be up again soon.
This used to be the cinema but was converted to a Bingo and Social club. At least it's still being used but it's a shame the cinema was closed in the early 1970’s.
This is Commercial Square. The lamp standard on top of the fountain dates from 1890. The pigeons know that people like to eat their food here.

Are you on the coast by any chance? A lot of our coastal towns sadly get so dilapidated, shells of their former heyday selves. It happens in old manufacturing communities too. There is an odd beauty in it though, melancholy, which comes across so well in these pictures. At least the pigeons are thriving, haha.

This isn't on the coast but only a few miles from it. Unfortunately, I live in the poorest county of the UK and apparently, the second poorest region of northern Europe. It doesn't seem that bad here to me and I've seen buildings like this all over the UK. I think the real problem is that people spend most of their money online now and don't use the shops in towns often enough to keep them going. It does give me something interesting to photograph though.
