📷 Japanese White-Eye In The Light Rain

in photography •  7 years ago

Zosterops japonicus

I spotted a few Japanese white-eyes flying around these plants at the Taipei Botanical Garden, feeding on the nectar from the flowers. This is the second time I have shot birds with my Canon 100-400mm lens adapted onto the Sony A7. I used manual focus and managed to capture a few shots of the bird.

Japanese white-eyes are fast, and they don't like to stay in one place for long, so it was quite challenging to take their photo, especially with manual focus! I stayed in one position, waiting for them to get close and make a few returns. These were the images I selected out of a few that I took.

Does anyone know what this plant is?

This one stayed long enough for me to get focus on it :)

Great colour and lines here. Something almost renaissance about the first photo. Love the green on green.

Good shot of my friend, when shooting your photograph is very appropriate when the bird perched on the flower

Thank you @clodoweg, I just realized I'm already following you!

Ah yes :) See you soon so :)

Those are nice catches. I could see how need some quick reflexes and a tiny bit of luck. Cool beans.

Thanks, luck was on my side, patience helped =)

Yes patience. I had a green cheek conure before the baby was born. I just gave her up but I could never get a good shot of her and she was on a perch in my office! She hated my camera and lens always started scream when she saw it.
So you have way more patience than me.

Beautiful. Amazing you can get such clear focus, and probably hand held as well? So hard to frame with a tripod and flitty bird. Thanks for more phenomenal works.

Thanks @ddschteinn! A bit of luck and persistence/patience helped! Yes it was handheld, but I braced myself against a post for more support.

I don't know what that plant is, but it is as stunning as that bird. Very nice pictures btw.

Thank you @divyne, I was lucky to have spotted it :)
