Good morning to all!

Grandmaster Flash, Afrika Bambaataa and Kool Herc created the bases of Hip Hop through break’s rhythms for people to dance to.

Their work is so fundamental in the creation of Hip Hop that in the environment they are recognized by a higher name: The Holy Trinity.

But when you think of Hip Hop, you can’t imagine dj’s, you can imagine rappers.

And when did rap begin? When did rhythms meet?

I read that you said that rap was always there. What do you mean by that?

"Rap was always there.

If you travel to the '30s, you have Cab Calloway doing the Hi De Ho, and the choir answered.

Then there were the gospel quartets". Afrika Bambaataa

"The choir style of Góspel is similar to singing with rhymes". Grandmixer DXT

"There was the poetic rap by Gil Scott-Heron, The Last Poets, The Watts Prophets, Sonia Sánchez, Wanda Robinson.

There was Malcolm X’s political rap.

You’re talking about someone’s mom dating Mohammed Ali. "Afrika Bambaataa

"I think it’s always been a black thing to talk fluently, you know, into a microphone and be entertained.

Look at Barry White, Isaac Hayes.

There’s a great legacy of talking along the lines, and Hip Hop is an extension.

And then there’s also a style of talking about a microphone coming out of the New York DJ’s. Gary Byrd, Ken "Spider" Webb, Frankie Crocker.

These guys were super entertaining. You can find tapes of Frankie Crocker where he’s almost rapping about a beat". Nelson George

"Frankie Crocker is the first black cat you ever heard on the radio like that.

And, you know, he said short sentences.

It’s basically where the street Djs took it.

They did the same and evolved it to what we do". Grandmaster Caz

"Frankie Crocker is not a founder of Hip Hop because he hated rap... But, he hated it because it was very close to his thing". Dan Charnas

What’s the first one you saw rapping in the style we associated with hip hop today?

"It’s controversial, that’s a controversy.

There are a couple of answers to that question, different opinions.

But I’m telling you, this cat, Dj Hollywood, came out of the New York album.

Hollywood is the king of rap, the first king of rap, definitely.

The golden voice. You can’t help it.

It’s the first one I’ve ever seen do rhythmic rap". Kurtis Blow

In the next post I will continue with this, thanks for the attention.
