Is four hours enough?

in photography •  8 years ago  (edited)

Just a little less than four hours sleep, is it enough? Unlikely.

During the days, many ideas for articles come to me and I take notes in an attempt to not lose them in the flurry of tasks. Often the only time I have to sit down and work on long articles is after ten or eleven at night when the days activities come to an end.

This is usually when I am the most creative but, it creates several challenges as I must usually be up again around seven in the morning. Like today. It was 330 when I finally made it into bed last night.

I enjoy writing so much that I do not want to not write but it takes a heavy toll on my energy and thought processes at times too. I don't often have the luxury to sleep in or take a midday nap so I think it leaves me worn out at times.

A lot of my posts are about doing all one can to add value to this world regardless of reward and I unfortunately believe in 'practice what you preach'. So, this is what I 'must' do to be unconflicted in word and action. I wonder how long I can keep it up?

It would be much easier to just be a hypocrite.

Beautiful photograph!!

Interestingly the amount of sleep a person needs varies greatly. I "heard" that President Donald Trump gets by with just four hours of sleep. Maybe that's how you become a billioniare president. lol

Or an insane Tweeter ;)

Thanks. I actually knew a guy long ago that would sleep 2 hours total a day in four half hour blocks. Never tired, always energetic, worked a full job in Papua New Guinea and a job in the US the same day.

Do not scoff at yourself. A healthy dream is a healthy life. Appreciate your health - it is priceless.

I have spent so much of my life in illness, I am not sure what healthy feels like anymore. I agree, it is priceless and I can understand the self-medicating world we live in, although I am not a participant. To wake up without pain or move without discomfort would be quite an attractive world in which to live. At what cost though?

wow nice

I think that you are doing great. :c)

Last night I settled on less than three and a half hours of sleep (very fortunately I can and do sleep while commuting) - not because it is sustainable but because I spent a fair portion of the day working on my latest post. And half of that time was looking for suitable images. O_o

Yes it does feel wasteful but how else are people going to stomach such a long post? ;cP

I only wish that I could force some images to be smaller. I think I'll experiment with columns. ^_^

You are doing great @tarazkp. Remember that value is in the eye of the beholder.

I have very recently started adding more than a header image when I can. I unfortunately are quite wordy as I like to try and create a mental journey of sorts rather than tell the destination.

I am unsure why formatting is so difficult at Steemit and hopefully this will improve quickly. I sometimes feel like I need to be a computer programmer to use the UI ;) I generally use my own images so it is a little easier to find (sometimes) but, I also tend to use some that don't fit the article perfectly too. I think it is a control issue...

I got quite ill while young and learned to manage on little sleep. Even though I could get more now, I try to remember those days and work instead. Of course I do try to keep it reasonable.

I have come to the conclusion that wordy has a tendency of pushing people away, and so this is why I feel compelled to inject more humour and images. :c)

It does add to the workload of a given article, however, as does needing to code in one's desired formatting. For example - I spent more than an hour looking for a picture with 'both' Loveless' spider 'and' the da-vinci-inspired flying machine in WWW - but couldn't. :cP I should have switched to cat memes sooner ;c)

Would it be a bad thing for you to sleep 6-7 hours? :c) I personally find such to be refreshing. Sleep is actually quite important.

6-7 in 24 hours?? I try.

Yes. Wordy is not overly appreciated but I think that understanding needs to be developed, not answers consumed.

A cat meme life would be awesome.

Deep thinks... no words 👏
