Phone panoramas - a must occasionally

in photography •  8 years ago  (edited)

From yesterday again, some panorama shots from my phone. I normally don't use my phone camera and very rarely post pictures from it but, for panorama shots it is necessary.

I wanted to try and capture the surrounds a little to show what kind of location this abandoned church is in. I also wanted to get my wife and daughter in the (unfortunately named) rapeseed field next to it.

The files were really large so I had to crush them down in order to upload them comfortably. Hopefully you can still get the idea though.

There were a couple other people that had stopped by on the way too to see what was going on.

I think with a sunset or storm overhead and a decent wide-angle lens, one could really get some great and atmospheric pictures here. Perhaps, I will go back alone so I have some time to set shots better.

The phones, even though they are getting better don't give a great image in my opinion. I have an s7 galaxy which has a decent camera on it but is still of course limited. I wonder if they will ever provide the same as a quality SLR or my Olympus mirrorless?

Perhaps they won't need to. Maybe one day we can just take the picture mentally and download it straight from there. :)

Very well taken photos with the phone camera. I tend to extend my arm forward when rotating and get a bulging effect in the center of my panoramics. Just a habit I need to work my way out of. The latest camera phones are really good, but do lack some refinement and features of DSLRs. I really enjoy the panoramic mode, and then being able to crop the image to get what you're looking for.

I normally use mine to take photos of things at the shop to send to my wife. This way I buy the right stuff :)

Thanks to a function of panoramic shots phones become very powerful photographic tools. Wide angle lens and decent dslr would be an expensive spoending. But these days you neeed only a phone to take a powerful panorama photograph.

Yes, but for everything else you need a proper camera :)

Woooo nice! It's kinda annoying how the pro cameras don't automatically stitch together a panorama... Manually putting them together is such a pain in the ass!!! lol

It seems like it really should be quite an easy operation these days.

Yup. I guess the companies think it'll make it look less pro... Lol

Did you use some sort of tripod? Your panoramas seem so continuous!

Lovely area :-)

No, just my personal bipod. :)

I guess I just haven't got a steady enough hand, because mine usually come out slightly distorted...

nice effect! yes in future we take pcitures with our minds, that would be awesome :)

But hackable? That will get awkward real fast :D

Fantastic
