The bane of my current existence

in photography •  7 years ago

It started yesterday and I already knew but when I got to my car it was confirmed. Pollen, especially from the birch kills me this time of year. I have never had allergies or hay fever until about 7-8 years ago but it arrived to make up for lost time. I have to take medication all year around now but, the start of the spring is the worst, especially for my eyes. The medication generally doesn't have much effect on me until allergy season begins and then it makes me quite tired. I think it is because my body is fighting the allergen even though most of the symptoms don't present.

It is what it is so I went out into the sunshine to grab a few pictures anyway. I haven't used my extension tubes for macros for a long time and I thought I would blow off some of the cobwebs. It was quite windy so I didn't get what I wanted but, it was good to be out in the warmth anyway. These are from a tree just outside of the building that reaches up past our balcony.

I like shooting around where I live even though I walk past all of these things multiple times a day. Having a camera in hand and especially with macro makes one pay more attention to what is going on in the little details. Little bugs covered in pollen and the budding trees and flowers. Everyone should get even a cheap camera or phone with a macro and go out into nature and see what there is to see as I think people would have a much higher appreciation for nature and therefore take better care of the environment when they see just how complex even the simplest of plants is.

After crawling around on the forest floor and playing in the trees, I and my clothes (and camera) are covered in pollen now and I think I will head off to the shower and try to wash it away. After that, I might have a look at the other photos I took to see if anything is worth processing.

Sorry about the allergies. I have issues with dust though. It would tickle my nose and I would go on a sneezing marathon, with tears and everything. It can be annoying.

Is it the macro that makes the closeup pictures so clear?

Allergies are more annoying than anything but, the tiredness doesn't help life.

Is it the macro that makes the closeup pictures so clear?

Yes, except I am using macro tubes, which are kind of like a poor man's macro. One day, I will get a decent macro lens to play with.

These photographs are really nice. Sometimes I wonder how calm your muscles need to get to concentrate on a spot for this clear shots. One of my many wonders.

I often try to take pictures of nature around me but I lose the focus. Maybe that is because I use my mobile device though. It ends up looking funny 😀

You need to freshen up actually and maybe there are more of this nature pictures to share. Sorry about the allergies.

Nasty business allergies mate. Hope you manage it properly. Really beautiful pics taken there. I had a really nice Nikon D70 I bought off a friend some years back and did some really nice work with it. Had to sell it though, we went through a rough patch and my wife needed medical attention. I'll get another good camera at some point, but they cost quite a bit. Look forward to some more pics. Feel better soon

I hope your wife is okay now.

i have only played with Nikons a little. I use an Olympus EM-1 Mirrorless. I had Canon before but the lenses are too large and expensive. The mirrorless are easy to travel with and the lenses are much, much cheaper. Not suitable for some things like weddings though so have had to borrow from a friend.

She has a her moments thanks mate, chronic depression and anxiety doesn't really go away, but we keep an eye on it and work through it together. My dad was an avid photographer on a hobby level and used Pentax, Nikon and Chinon. I can't afford the top notch stuff, but will get back in with a Nikon D5300 as this is a great little camera with more than enough features.

Having friends with the right equipment and enough trust between you is a bonus. Have a good one

Mr Tarazkp sorry about the allergy, i think i have the worst allergy ever, i start to sneeze anytime someone around me sneezes, mere hearing it makes me sneeze, and the shortest round i go is about 7 continuous times per session, i hate it.
Sometimes i wonder how much time it takes you to finish these really nice images

ha, you would be terrible at Allergies Anonymous meetings.

Not so long to finish these as essentially they are straight out of the camera :)

Spectacular!

Urgh sorry to hear - I know how much allergies suck, I'm not particularly allergic, but I know how horrible they can get.
Doubt it helps you, but those are some beautiful shots. I really like them, especially the first one -I love how clear the leaf is. And its edge...wow.

Yeah, not so much fun but, tere are much worse afflictions in the world.

I am looking forward to having a day without the wind so I can play a little more as it is hard to time the shot between sways of the branch. Yeah, I could have held it but I have a little bit of a thing that I try to catch what is there without manipulating it unless I really have to. :)

Hi Taraz. Some people dread spring for that same reason. I am ok with pollen as it doesn't bother me. Funny enough sneezing is the closest anyone comes to dying. This is because your heart stops every time you sneeze. Useless piece of information I know. Always the useless ones you remember though.

That is not useless information.

I heard that sneezing eight times in a row brings on an orgasm...

Haha. Shit you are classic. Best reply I have had yet.

I'm sorry about your allergy, but I must congratulate you on those detailed photos. Sometimes we do not stop looking at the little things, we forget that even in the smallest things there is beauty. It was worth getting a little dirty from those images. Knowing your virtues as a photographer, there is surely a treasure in the others. Happy afternoon and take care of your allergy, @tarazkp.

There are so many minute organisms around us that we pay little or no attention to their existence, but all Of these things makes up the ecosystem { have definite ecosystem} .

Allergies are not nice things and I don’t remember having one unless bitten by insect 🐜

Now that is a love-hate relationship. The way the second photo is taken up close makes it look like some kind of deadly spore/Bartica that mutated and going to turn the population into zombies!

Thankfully I only on occasion have mild hay fever. It does often make you think if it’s just something in our diet or the environment around us that is evolving. I’ve known a few people who never had any issues in past struggling when the pollen count is high these days. We have anger mother earth and she is getting her revenge!

it look like some kind of deadly spore/Bartica that mutated and going to turn the population into zombies!

It is some deadly spore according to my eyes.

For me, I think it has something to do with my body starting to reject Finland :)

@tarazkp my friend... you gotta face the music head on!!! beautiful pictures btw... but...

Here is what you need to do.. you are gonna think I put some funny powder on my cereal bowl, but I promise its not the case.

Find a local honey maker, eat 2-4 spoonfuls of honey every single day... in one week... Allergies gone!

Bet you 2 SBD if im wrong!!

If I have already tried it? As well as nettle tea and a few other things.... transfer 2 SBD to tarazkp... :P

Perhaps I will give it another go just to make sure.

You seem crystal certain about this. Maybe it is worth trying afterall

It got me today. It might have been grass pollen but I'm not for sure. Have you tried vitamin C?

Nice playing with light.

I invited you for the Minnow Booster White List a little while ago.

Did you take a look and try it out? If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask me.

Yeah thanks but, I don't buy votes or vote trade. I see MB voting on too much shady stuff anyway.

Yeah that's what the white list is for.
Battling the shady stuff. And it's working out pretty good regarding that.

But i understand that if you never buy votes that it's not your cup of tea. ;-)

it is very much worth appreciating nature since it frees you from stress and shows you the simplest details that you do not ever do not take those moments of tranquility, it is true, I think we should all go out to appreciate nature and the environment we would take care of more than and we would feel better, already with that walk in the forest you will feel much better of the allergy, that is released along with the stress

Well this wont help your allergies, but might make your day a bit better:

MadTV Allergy Commercial:

Sorry about your health, be careful of what you are exposed to. Most time correcting what we exposed to work better than drugs especially with the issue of allergic.

Nature is beautiful, I do go out to enjoy the beauty of nature too, especially when I'm bored. Each time I go out, I come back with so much energy...

Next I'm going, I will try and hold a camera in my hand too....

Thanks for the advice and I wish you sound health too

I have been surprised at the increase in number of days that my car is just covered in a layer of pollen. Sometimes I'll come out and won't even be able to see the paint because the pollen is so thick. Not sure what changed from previous years to this, but it seems like a drastic difference. You're right, that's what showers are for... and Claritin. ;)
