Wondering what to do for summer?

I have posted a few icy pictures of Finland and thought I better balance the books. Even though Finland is where the Devil stores his ice cream during the winter, in the summer, it is full of life and serenity.

With 200,000 lakes and only 5.4 million people, there really is plenty of room to find a quiet place and relax. Nature in Finland is well maintained and there are thousands of opportunities to hike, fish or just sit outside a summer cottage grilling sausages.

The still waters of the morning and evenings are gorgeous and the reflections can be breathtaking. Another benefit are the incredibly long days. So long up north, there is no night for two weeks of the year. It is the land of the midnight sun after all. I have heard that Finland has one of the longest golf seasons in the world by hours available to play.

These photos are from two different summer cottages and showcase the serene views and in the last photo, sunrise. This was taken during midsummer and it was 3 am in the morning. I think I could have done a little better but I had a few drinks under my belt and a makeshift tripod.

So, if you want somewhere a little different for a vacation, look into Finland. I can answer all of your questions and since I am not Finnish myself, I will tell you the truth without boring you to death completely ;)
