Kalam, The Adventurous Valley Full of Love and Romance

Hello lovely fellow Steemitians! I just have arrived back from an official long trip to Northern Areas of Pakistan. During the trip, I had a chance to visit Kalam.

Kalam is known as land of beauty and romance. The lush-green valley of Kalam, with its rushing torrents, icy-cold lakes, fruit-laden orchards and flower-decked slopes is ideal for holidaymakers.

It is a cool heaven for tourists which is located at distance of 99 km from Mingora in the northern upper reaches of Swat valley along the bank of Swat River in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.

Among other valleys of Swat, Kalam is the most beautiful, coolest and attractive place like heaven on earth. The reach from Bahrin to Kalam is somehow narrow valleys but when it approaches Kalam, it opens widely and curvy. The tributaries and streams fall in the river Swat at different places. The road from Mangora to Bahrin is express way but from Bahrin to Kalam about 35 KM is almost all damaged. However, the construction work has been started and it is estimated to be completed in next 8-9 months which will ultimately result in more attraction to the tourists. Trout fish is famous dine. Fishing permits can also be obtained from PTDC resort in Kalam.

There are many other attractions around Kalam among them are the Lake Mahodand, Lake Kundal and Ushu. Most of these areas can be reached through an un-metalled road from Kalam and better in a 4×4 vehicle.

Kalam is surrounded by high peaks, filled with orchards of walnut, peach, apricot, and apples. Continuous roaring of the river with chilling water and hill tops covered with white snow and shining like silver in glaring sunshine makes mesmerizing.

There are all kinds of facilities for the tourists, rest houses and modern hotels. Honey and fresh fruits are special gifts of Kalam.
