A densely populated village that its inhabitants abandoned.
The open doors and windows, in houses, with scattered objects on the floors, between tattered clothes, notebooks with half-finished notes, dishes and glasses in their cases ready for re-use. Above all, however, the scent of abandonment and the "mockery" of melancholy in a village that a few decades ago was full of life.
This is the image that faces anyone who finds in Crete ...80 kilometers east of Heraklion in the village of Kalami. A village built in magnificent scenery, next to mountains, rivers and dense vegetation, which makes you wonder why they let it desert.
It sounds familiar... I may have passed it before but don't remember this story in particular.

Η ιστορια λεει οτι εφυγαν για να βρουν δουλεια στα θερμοκηπια και στην τουριστικη περιοχη που αναπτυσοταν τοτε...περιπου 1970-1980...το περιεργο ειναι οτι αφησαν πολλα πραγματα πισω που για την εποχη εκεινη ηταν ακριβα...πχ κουζινες ψυγεια τηλεορασεις...Προσωπικη μου αποψη ειναι οτι κατι αλλο εχει γινει...Το ευχαριστο ειναι οτι εχουν γυρισει πισω 6 ατομα και ζουν μονιμα εκει.
