The following pictures were taken in Dalarna/Sweden. The moose was walking close to a field where some trees had been chopped down a couple of years ago.
If you ever surprise a moose, you have to be careful, as they can be very dangerous. Actively approaching them is a bad idea, better zoom in as good as possible, but never make them feel threatened. They are much bigger than you, much faster than you, and got some serious kicking skills.
In general moose will avoid humans and you don't see them very often when you are walking through the woods. It is much more likely to see them from a car at the side of a road.
When they notice you...
...they will usually just turn around...
...and disappear.
