Photo of the day in Antarctica ~ Feb 28, 2018

in photography •  7 years ago

My Photo of the day was a Leopard seal stalking around an ice berg waiting for its opportunity to hunt some naive gentoo penguin chicks that are unaware of the dangerous that lurk in the shallow waters near their breeding colonies.

This big guy was quite relaxed and curious of our presence, as we sat and watching him swim back and forth along the edge of the berg whilst popping his head up to give myself and my guests a big ole’ look.

Incredible, really fascinating, very good shot

Such a great photo you took. It's great that the seal wasn't scared of you and was relaxed enough for you to capture this awesome shot :) That water looks cold! lol x

It is all about patience. Taking your time and reading the animal's behaviour and 99% of the time it allows you to have such amazing encounters with it

lol that's pretty funny... ur photos are consistently awesome. How long do you wait around to snap something like this? I assume it might be quite a while no?

To take some photos it can take 1 minute or some can take about 30+minutes. This photo in particular took me about 15minutes. The animal in the photo took a few moments to feel comfortable with us around him before he began to become very curious

Hermosa fotografía. Muy buen trabajo

This is such a stunning photo man! I’m glad I just found you, I’m really looking forward to seeing more of your shots

Cheers! Thanks for the support and follow. I shall do my best to keep them coming

If Antarctica were music it would be Mozart. Art, and it would be Michelangelo. Literature, and it would be Shakespeare. And yet it is something even greater; the only place on earth that is still as it should be. May we never tame it.

I love the color of the water it is stunning like a jem. I am truly impressed that seal pretty much posed for you this is an awesome shot. I always look forward to what you're going to put up next I am truly impressed with your work keep it up and thank you for sharing
