TimTravels - London: My new Hometown! Part 1

in photography •  8 years ago  (edited)

Welcome my dear Steemian friends to another episode of TimTravels!

I don’t know where to start since there is so much to tell. Apologize me when I forget something. Yesterday I started my journey to London. I met with @noogie (my cousin) at the Hamburg Airport in Germany and we were right on time, unfortunately our plane wasn’t. As if it wasn’t bad enough that I only had 3 hours of sleep, the plane had a delay of 4 hours. At least the company was kind enough to offer us some vouchers to that we could get us some food and drinks.

The flight was pleasant and the view was fantastic as always. There is nothing better than flying and I enjoy it every single time. I mean look at the amazing view! (Actually I am kidding and I am afraid of flying)

Finally we arrived at London Gatwick and had to make our way to Waterloo, where our hotel was located. So, it’s my first time in London I had no idea how things do work here. Who was my friend in desperate times? No, not @noogie – it’s Google! The way was quite simple, get the train and drive to Waterloo, lol.

After a 30 minutes ride we arrived at Waterloo and my heart was pumping. A scenery like you only know from movies. Taxis, red busses, famous buildings: I’m in LONDON!

Few minutes ago I was in one of these

We checked in at our hotel and I cannot complain, have a look.

We dropped off our bags and got out as fast as possible since we already lost so much time due to the delay. We had no maps, no idea where to go and what to do and you know what? I love it this way. Go and explore the city. Make it our own experience and don’t follow other people’s instructions.

Steemians? I promised you that I will get a new camera. I finally got it just to deliver you better pictures. I hope you will enjoy the following shots and leave some feedback. Ready for the journey? Let’s go!

And here are some other shots I really do like!

Tomorrow I will show you the second part of my London trip! I have too many pictures and it would be an overkill to upload all of them in a single post.

I hope you had a great day! Have you been in London? Let me know what you think about it!

Yours,
Tim

I was there last August. I was lucky, not even one day of rain. I loved Trafalgar Square and London Tower the most. And I went to see a show, so lovely. It was a short but sweet week for me :) Steem on!

I second that, fantastic post! Trafalgar Square and London Tower are breathtaking!

Oh wow, that camera was so worth it. :D Insane quality and photos man, wow!

I am very happy I got the new camera! The main reason is that I want to contribute more photography to Steemit! My passion for photography came back.

Oh yeah sorry, I saw that in the pic above, forgot to mention that... but yeah the pictures have a pro quality to them and @1400 it's a great deal

Hey nice Camera I've got a Nikon D7000 I use a 18-105mm for everyday life its not that good when you want to take pictures at a very close distance but handfull to almost any situation

The D7000 is a great camera!

Sure it is ... I'll upload some personal pictures later on I'll let you know

I agree :)

London. I had been to london and always want to find sometime to go back there. The building, the heritage and the culture is nice. Living of standard is a bit high but you can always take advantage geographically that you can in fact travel around other european countries. I was having great time back then and hope you will be the same.

thank you for your sharing ! looking forward to your part 2! I haven't been to London ever, I can imagine how great it is from your journal, keep up your works ! :)

Nikon D750

Same camera as me. I'm sure you'll love it.

great stuff :)

I'm so happy that u like London! Hahaha I wa an exchange student in London and I just FALL IN LOVE with this amazing city! I'm from Hong Kong, and I find the pace of life in London much slower than that in HK :) I could always see people sitting in cafe and relax, and enjoy a bottle of beer with fds. Hope you'll enjoy ur stay in London:)

I never was in Hong Kong! You should tell us more about it :)

Haha @timsaid Hong Kong is also called an international city like London :) They life is very busy here, you can always see the train packed with people in the morning and I didn't see that in London often! Haha and you can find food all over the world in HK:) it's also called the Shoppers' Paradise :) The night view along the Victoria Harbour is fabulous :) Also, you can find many traditional Chinese elements in Hong Kong like the street markets :) you should come and experience HK if there's a chance !

You are afraid to fly? Welcome to the club :-)

Nothing worse.

Ohne Schmarrn - ihr beide habt Flugangst @timsaid @twinner echt??

Ja!

das ist doof, mein Frauchen auch immer - evtl. liegt es an EasyJet :-)?

I have been in London one's many years ago, I remember we were walking across city all day with my brother , a lots to see there ... I like it)

@timsaid It's very interesting photos, but why do not you try to take your selfi photos when on a plane or on the road, that would be fun again for readers like me, hiks

Thanks for your feedback foways! I like to be behind the camera, not in front of it :)

ha ha!!!! You @timsaid, remind me of my old friend in college, he has not been in front of the camera until now. But whatever it is, I really like the catch of your photo

:D! Greetings mate

hehe :D! Greetings

Great pictures! Have fun over there!

Nice job and quite a few good pictures in there too! I love the bubbles!!!

Namaste :)

Wow man, watching your pictures is like an awesome experience! You made yourself a great gift buying the new little toy!! Wishing you a great time in London! Cheers

One of the main reasons why I got the camera is to make more picture for Steemit. Photography was my passion but it went lost. Now it came back and even stronger. Steemit made it possible to me to fulfill this wish and get a new camera. Not it's time that I give you something in return!

Glad to hear that this platform did something that great for someone! Hope to get there one day too but in the meanwhile I will enjoy articles like yours! Keep it up

Thank you so much! Following you cause you got the spirit!

The storytelling with the supporting photographs really pays off. You inspired me to do the same kind of stuff. Currently working on a trip I did to Doel, Belgium.

Looking forward to see your work! Enjoy your trip rickvanboxtel

Welcome to London timsaid!

Awesome shots, I especially like the bubbles also - striking, captivating perspectives on them.

Happy travels to you :)

The bubble pictures are great! What speed lens did you need to use to capture them? There's no blur at all.

Standard kit lens 24-85mm. Will get a 85mm f/1.8 soon :)

I've been to London last year... but unfortunately not for a trip.. it's for an emergency landing.. lol

Hi timsaid, I did try to sort something out, but between work and everything else, I couldn't manage to be in London so we could meet up. It's a shame because I really wanted to meet you in person! I hope you are having an absolutely fantastic time! Maybe one day I'll get some time for myself again :)

I wish I could go to London one day.. must be a great please to visit .

It is a different London story.. Good to see beautiful London thanks to you. @timsaid :)

What a wonderful destination. Only time will tell when I my self can see it in person. May the Steem Force be with you all the time ;)

I lived a few years in London when people still could afford a flat still in the city. Even the IRA-bombing at that time, it was a very nice time. Since that time I see London always only for a few days - visiting friends.

Brought back great memories for me of my trip to London four years ago.

I love London, photos is great!

Great post and Great photos @timsaid thanks

How many great memories I have of London. I use to live in notting hill then I moved to marble arch ... I learned to speak English at Callan School in Oxford Circus ... The best memories I have from that city are all the friends I made from all around the world but specially from Japan they are incredible kind, quite, and funny people I just feel in love with their culture and way of being ... I hope to go back someday ... London wait for me :)

I've been to London almost 7 years ago. Well I can remember so much of it, altough I've been there with my school class...
I had only 80 Pounds with me so it was kinda very expensive, but what I liked the most was the beautiful architecture. It's like your walking through a few hundred years ago in some city parts. I can't wait to get there again, because here from germany it's quite cheap)))) great photos!

We couldn't think a few years back that we will be able to share with so many people accross the globe experiences and photos in an instant

Reaaly amazing

que linda publicacion y las fotos estan maravillosas me encantan
