heavy metal penetration , rough love
well and truly drilled
in the second world war the germans called british tanks " tommy cookers " as they would catch fire with one shot often
lesson if you are going to join the army inside one of these is not the best place to be , in fact they are horrible inside full of sharp edges and lumps of metal to bang your head on
Boy the armor on those tanks sure was thin back then. I drove an M1A1 Abrams tank with depleted uranium armor. These tanks are beasts!! But also full of edges and corners to hurt yourself on.
I saw many guys air lifted out of the field due to self inflicted injuries or accidents inside the tank. Many gunners shattered their own legs by raising the gun tube, lowering the breach on their legs. Ouch!!!
But it sure was fun. Knocking down trees, going where no other vehicle can go.
I can still hear the sound of the turbine engine firing up on a cold winter morning at 4am. Nothing like it in the World.
Or the rattle of thunder as tanks passed by.
Wow!!!

I can still hear the sound of the tracks squeaking as the tank rolled by. No, nothing stealth about a tank.

I lived in Europe for two years, and one thing I enjoyed was that sense of history all around me. Never saw any shot up tanks, mind you. :-)
