this is a contract site, so we work on mandates (number of persons onsite for the day). This site was 14$ per mandate. This 14AU$ included hot breakfast, and about 10x the cold food at 4am for the guys to make pack lunches. so we have salads, cold salads and meats for samwhichs and reheat foods. But ya all workers and they dont pay a dime, its a remote site so construction company has to provide everything

Its hard to believe these kinda (high life style) food is for workers! By workers do you mean architects and engineers or just plain laborers(daily wage person)?
Here, In India the daily wage laborer's life style is totally opposite. They might have never tasted these kinda food in their life time.

mining and construction unions are strong in australia, not so much hospitality (i work in hospo).....so the site managers and engineers are here, but they get the same rooms/food as all the machine operators and workers....its all rather specialized pipeline construction, they all make over 100k AU$ we work on 19 days at site than 9 days off, they work 12 hour days....
