this photo is from rest place at Limpopo river where I saw this insect at first time. Really impressive armored cricket.

Haven't seen one before

Interesting pics. One generally hears them at night but very seldom sees them. Upvoted.

I have seen several specimens in Kruger March 2017. Maybe high season.

I did not touch it, despite it is probably not harmful. I saw European roller eating it. A big show.

About 5 cm, but is sturdy.
