Seven series!
This series of blogs entry's is named Seven and the purpose is to show a little bit of my traveling or day to day experiences, you can check my first entrance here. Today's entrance is about Seven waterfalls in the north of Thailand.
Number 1 - Wang Buabaan (top part) - Chaing Mai
Just on the outside of Chiang Mai, possible to walk there from the center of the city. Swimming it's an option also jump cliffing, the fun thing to do here is to slide trough the rock and then "fall" to the water pool.
Number 2 - Mae sa - Samoeng loop
The samoeng loop is a very scenic road that circles around doi Suthep. This one is very loud, you can have a drink seating just by the river.
Number 3 - Rup Sadet - Doi Suthep temple
Divided in two parts, the bottom part is imediatly before the last curve for the temple and the top part is located near the stores already at the temple. The top part has a big drop.
Number 4 - Pembok Waterfall - Pai
Located near the very chilled hippie village of Pai, this one is divided in two parts, the first part is on the top , where the big drop is (photo on top) but since it doesn't get any sun, its a act of bravery to take a swim there.
The bottom part however, which is closer to the road, does get sun and its way more pleasurable to take a dive there! You can do some cliff jumping here also .
Number 5 - Buatong Waterfall a.k.a. sticky waterfalls.
This one is my favorite, they're huge in size, taking a swim its only possible on the bottom pool, showed on the photo, but the main activity to do here, is too climb trough the waterfalls. The Sticky Waterfalls get their name from a mineral deposit that is incredibly grippy. In fact, the rocks feel like a hardened sponge.
So either is with the help of ropes, or just trough the grip of you're feet you can climb its three huge sections of it.
Number 6 - Wat Pha Dat waterfall
This waterfalls bring you to more spiritual side, located in a temple on the middle of doi Suthep jungle, its relaxating powers over you, totally compensates the fact that you cannot have a swim or bath on it.
The immersive jungle surrounding the temple.
Number 7 - Wang Buabaan (Bottom part) - Chaing Mai
On the bottom part of Wang Buabaan taking a bath its possible, taking a swim not so much. They re way more touristic and you will find a lot more people hanging around on the bottom part, rather on the top. Even so theirs a lot of beauty to contemplate and I do recommend a visit.
